Volunteer Firefighter

The Fire District is Accepting Applications for Volunteers

If you have a desire to serve your community and learn some valuable skills and training in the field of emergency response, we’d like to hear from you. In fact, many fire departments, especially in rural areas, rely heavily on the goodwill of our local residents to serve as volunteers.

Volunteers help serve the communities of Moundhouse, Dayton Valley, Mark Twain and Sutro.

Volunteers are stationed out of the Silver City, Stagecoach and Silver Springs Fire Stations.

As a firefighter, you will help protect property and lives when needed most.

As an EMT, you will provide immediate medical care of people with a sudden illness or injury.

Training is free as is certifications upon successful completion of the required courses and passing of state certified exams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 18 years old
  • Graduated from High School or GED equivalent,
  • or actively attending High School with a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Valid Class C Drivers License
  • Completion of the required Firefighter Physical examination and drug screen
